Summer Edition

Welcome back to The Wind-down, Summer Edition!

Curtis and Sarah

Our family officially entered summer mode (school wrapped up mid-May), and within 24 hours, every bathing suit, sprinkler, and water toy had been pulled out of storage.

This summer, we’re leaning into a true 90s-style childhood — outdoor adventures, neighborhood playdates, backyard tents, popsicles melting too fast, and family BBQs that stretch into the evening. It’s carefree, a little chaotic, and deeply nostalgic.

While our kids absolutely deserve a brain break, we’re also grateful for the simple routines like Ozmotic that carry into summer — helping them continue learning, to stay curious, and keep their minds growing along the way.

With over 155 videos, we’re exploring better ways to organize content. We know that scrolling through a long list isn’t ideal so we recommend utilizing the playlist features. Click here to see how easy it is to create your own playlist!

Tips for Putting Little People to Bed:

We definitely don’t have it all figured out, but here’s what’s been working for our family… this month (because, as parents know, it’s always changing!):

If you don’t follow a strict bedtime schedule (we don’t either!), creating gentle boundaries and clear expectations can still make evenings run smoothly. Simple verbal countdowns like, “After this, we’re grabbing a snack and starting to wind down,” or “We’re heading to bed in 20 minutes,” help children transition calmly instead of feeling caught off guard.

Summer days are full of excitement, so creating a cool, dark, calming sleep space helps children settle more easily at night.

We don’t remember drinking much water as kids, but our children seem determined to empty an entire water fountain every day — especially at bedtime. To keep things simple, each child is responsible for their own water bottle. They refill it throughout the day, and that same bottle goes to bed with them at night.
